The story of hunger is typical throughout Ethiopia; escalating food prices, a loss in the value of livestock and higher transport costs directly translate into increased hunger, poverty and malnutrition for families, with children bearing the greatest burden of these consequences.

In the absence of this year’s crops families have been forced to sell what they have in order to buy food. Unfortunately this has translated into very little as the prices in the market have doubled five times in just 6 months.
