Every child, everywhere, has the right to an education

The hardest to reach children

Getting an education in Afghanistan is a struggle. Today, literacy rates in Afghanistan are among the lowest in the world, with female literacy at only 13%.

Harsh conditions in Afghanistan often force families to migrate for work and children's attendance at schools suffer as families rely on additional financial contributions to supplement households' income.

Global increases in food prices have further exacerbated the lives of Afghans', resulting in households spending up to 75% of their income on basic foodstuffs.
