Children are particularly at risk in a disaster. Save the Children's programmes seek to ensure that the needs of children are considered in how people prepare for, react to, and recover from disasters. The work to make this happen is at all levels - with children, communities, national governments and international organisations.
Save the Children supports schools by providing teacher’s training and making a model for how the DRR can be taught.
In the Philippines, Save the Children has developed educational materials in partnership with the Department of Education, as part of the curriculum to teach children to stay safe when a disaster strikes.
