Niger is facing a severe food crisis.

Poor and erratic rainfall since last year has led to widespread failure of crops and death of livestock.

More than half the population have used up almost their entire food reserves from the last harvest and are resorting to whatever ways they can to cope.

As a result, Niger’s population is desperately short of food and it is children who are bearing the brunt.
