Desperate food crisis threatens lives in Niger
Rachel Palmer / Save the Children
“I want this child to get better, to gain weight and to come home with me.”

Rahila is 24 months old and is being cared for by her grandmother Hassana, 61, since her parents got divorced.

Hassana was referred to this clinic in Aiger when Rahila became seriously unwell. She has been identified as suffering from severe malnutrition.

Rahila was 5.2kg when she was admitted to the clinic. Three days later she had gained 0.2kg.

At Save the Children supported stabilization centres severely malnourished children are fed with highly nutritious, fortified milk and given medicine to treat any other complications they may have.
