Education in Emergencies
Laurent Duvillier/ Save The Children
"I would like the schools to be rebuilt so that all the children can learn"

Farah is 15 years old and used to go to the National School of Cuba as well. Now, her father can’t afford to send her back to school.

“The earthquake destroyed our house and we don’t have any other place to sleep than in the streets”, says Farah.

“Children are hanging around the neighbourhood because they have nothing to do. I would like the schools to be rebuilt so that all the children can learn.”

Prior to the earthquake, Haitis educational gaps were significant. Only two thirds of the country's 6 to 12-year-old children were going to school. Only a third of children who attend primary school make it to 5th grade.
