We're on Twitter

We want to connect with you. Many of our national organisations  are tweeting about our work. Check out our feeds to the right, or follow one of our members below.

What is Twitter all about?

Twitter is a service for friends, family, co-workers, companies and organizations to communicate and stay connected through the exchange of quick, frequent answers to one simple question: What are you doing? It is also used to communicate a thought you may be having or a link to a website, blog, photo or video you like.

In order to receive updates from individuals into your "Tweetstream", you need to sign-up for a free account. Then visit the pages of the people you're interested in and click the "Follow" button below their photo.

What is a Tweet?

A tweet is a post or status update on Twitter.

What is ReTweeting?

"RT" or "ReTweeting" is simply taking a Twitter post from someone else and forwarding (rebroadcasting) it to your followers.

When someone asks you to ReTweet something, they're asking you to copy what they've just sent and post the same text as your own update.

Basically, you're being asked to forward the text along to your own followers.

So how is Save the Children using Twitter?

If you follow us on Twitter, you will receive notification every time we post an interesting story, news release, video, contest or challenge. We also use it to communicate about emergencies, alerts, events or other big news.

How can I help Save the Children by ReTweeting?

Once you have signed up for a Twitter account and follow us you will see our "Tweets" in your Tweetstream. Please "ReTweet" them in yours, to help us grow.

Simply copy and paste our "Tweets" into your own Twitter profile and precede the message with "RT @savethechildren ".

Here is an example of a ReTweet: RT @savethechildren Save the Children has presences on many social networking hubs. Check out where they are and get involved http://twurl.nl/652n8v
