Save the Children has launched an appeal to help children and their families forced from their homes by the escalating conflict in Pakistan’s North West Frontier Province (NWFP).
At least half a million people have fled Swat and Buner Districts in recent days. Together with the 550,000 Internally Displaced Persons who fled fighting in Bajaur Agency over the past six months, there are now more than a million people in temporary shelter in the districts between Peshawar and Islamabad in northern Pakistan. Some two thirds of these are children.
Anna Ford, Save the Children spokesperson from Islamabad speaks about the situation for children.
