SSCA Consultancy – CDRR Project

Save the Children Fiji (SC Fiji) is a leading child rights Non-Governmental Organisation working to improve the lives of children. SC Fiji is currently seeking to recruit an individual consultant or a consulting firm to update and validate the School Safety Context Analysis for the Education Sector in Fiji under its Child-Centred Disaster Risk Reduction (CDRR) Project.

Background

The CDRR Project is funded by the NZ Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT) and supported by SC New Zealand. The Project works in 11 target schools and 20 communities focusing on school safety and reducing disaster risks. The School Safety Context Analysis provides a snapshot of the Education Sector for Fiji and is an important component under the project’s national level output.

Two major documents have been produced previously that now require development and updates.

  1. Education Sector Snapshot for Comprehensive School Safety & Education in Emergencies 2016 to be updated using the more recent School Safety Context Analysis template which requires general update and additional content in response to new appreciation and need for context on CoVID, climate, and conflict and violence.
  2. The Comprehensive School Safety Roadmap 2017 to be updated in anticipation of the launch of a new phase of the Pacific Consortium for the Advancement of School Safety.

Duties and Responsibilities

a. To carry out a comprehensive catalogue and brief desk review of existing  School Safety,  Education in Emergencies, Disaster Risk Management and Climate Change Adaptation resources in the Education sector in Fiji. 

b. To work in liaison with the the Ministry of Education, Heritage and Arts officials, Education cluster, Education agencies, SC Fiji team, and other relevant authorities in gathering relevant data and information.

c. To update the “School Safety Context Analysis” utilizing the findings from (a) and (b) above and submit a draft report for review to SC Fiji and key stakeholders

d. To plan a national level workshop with the Ministry of Education, NDMO, and National Education Cluster members and other national level stakeholders to:

i. Present and validate the updated School Safety Context Analysis

ii. Discuss and update Comprehensive School Safety Priorities and Action Plan to be shared with national, regional and global stakeholders.

e. Finalise and submit the updated School Safety Context Analysis report with relevant appendices and annexes to Save the Children Fiji, based on the results of the validation workshop (i) above

f. Complete and submit the updated 2022 School Safety Priorities, and Action Plan based on the results of the workshop (ii) above

Duration of the Work

This assignment is for 25 working days over a period of 7 weeks from 4th July 2022 to 19th August, 2022.  Any additional days may be decided by the CEO based on the available budget.
