This study is a situational analysis of Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (CSEC) and Child Sexual Abuse (CSA) in Fiji. It attempts to examine the prevalence and knowledge of CSEC and CSA in Fiji and is part of a broader process of creating a regional knowledge base on these issues. The research team strongly believes that this documentation of CSEC and CSA as a situational analysis has uncovered only a small portion of this widespread issue, therefore should be the first of many more studies to be conducted. Furthermore, in-depth research of this phenomenon is imperative in order to increase our understanding of prevalence, contributing factors, the perpetrators, short term and long term effects on the victims, potential risks for children, and areas that need to be addressed through education and awareness-raising.
